TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization)
TCAR, or TransCarotid Artery Revascularization, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat carotid artery disease—a condition caused by plaque buildup that narrows the arteries supplying blood to the brain. To help protect the brain during the procedure, blood flow is temporarily reversed. A catheter is inserted into the common carotid artery at the bast of the neck. A stent is then guided through the catheter and placed to open and reinforce the artery, restoring healthy blood flow to the brain.
