EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)

EVAR (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair)

EVAR, or Endovascular Aneurysm Repair, is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), a potentially life-threatening condition where the aorta—the main artery that supplies blood to the body—becomes weakened and bulges. A thin tube called a catheter is inserted into the femoral artery in the groin. A stent graft is then guided through the catheter into the aorta. This stent graft is placed inside the aneurysm to reinforce the weakened section of the artery, redirecting blood flow and reducing pressure on the aneurysm wall, which lowers the risk of rupture.
